About us

Our approach
Apex Male Photography creates portraits for men in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding area. Our work includes headshots, editorial portraits, fitness progression and personal creative projects. Each session starts with what you want the images to express and how you intend to use them.
You do not need modelling experience or a particular body type to enquire. We specialise in photographing men and aim to make the process approachable, with clear guidance and room to ask questions. Your comfort, individuality and agreed boundaries guide the session.
Who we are
Apex Male Photography is an independent freelance photography service. Shoots are currently offered free on a time-for-print (TFP) basis, providing experience and portfolio opportunities alongside edited photographs for the people taking part.
Before a shoot, we discuss the location, style, timing, image delivery and intended use. Copyright and permitted uses depend on the written agreement for that session. Permission to publish photographs in our portfolio is discussed separately and is never assumed.

Care at every stage
From the initial conversation to the final image selection, the aim is to provide a considered, personal experience. We will discuss your brief and take time to explain the process, especially if this is your first photoshoot.
Discretion & consent
Having photographs taken can feel personal. We discuss boundaries before the session and respect your decision to pause, adjust a pose or stop. Photographs are not shared publicly or used in our portfolio without your explicit permission.
Room to be yourself
From a first headshot to a longer creative project, the focus is on making images that reflect you. There is no need to arrive knowing how to pose; guidance is part of the session.
Frequently asked questions
The answers below cover common questions about planning, delivery and privacy. If you need something clarified, get in touch before booking.
What image rights do I receive?
Copyright and permitted uses depend on the written agreement for your shoot, usually with equal rights of use agreed between the parties. Please confirm the details before using images commercially, passing them to another organisation or publishing them. Your delivered images will not have watermarks.
What if I feel nervous during a nude shoot?
Feeling nervous or experiencing an involuntary physical response can happen during a nude shoot. We handle this discreetly and respectfully. You can pause, cover up or change the plan at any time; nothing is photographed without your agreement.
Do you get involved with the images?
The photographer stays behind the camera. If you would like a partner or group portrait, you will need to arrange the other participants and discuss the plan with us beforehand.
Do I need to sign an agreement?
We ask participants to sign an agreement or model release setting out the shoot, agreed boundaries and image-use permissions. Please read it carefully and ask about anything you are unsure of before signing. Permission to take photographs and permission to publish them should be clearly understood.
Do you have a studio?
There is currently no dedicated studio. Shoots are usually arranged at a suitable client location or an agreed outdoor setting; occasional home-based arrangements may be possible. Access, privacy and permission to use a location must be discussed before the booking.
How long does the shoot take and when will I get my images?
Session length depends on the brief, outfit changes and location. Many shoots take around 1–3 hours, with the planned length agreed beforehand. Edited digital images are normally delivered within 2–3 weeks; please mention a deadline before booking.
How do I get my images and what do you do with them after?
Images are usually delivered by email as a ZIP folder or through a password-protected OneDrive folder, depending on file sizes. Delivered work is stored on an offline hard drive for up to six months before deletion, so please download and back up your files. Portfolio use requires your explicit permission.
My rugby club is interested in a naked calendar shoot for charity, how would this work?
For a charity calendar, we can discuss the group, theme, location and image requirements before planning the shoot. Each participant needs to complete the relevant agreement. The edited image selection is supplied digitally; your club or organisation arranges printing and production.
I'm interested in a nude fetish type shoot. Do you provide the gear?
Please bring your own agreed clothing and props and discuss any specialist concept before booking. We do not photograph illegal activity, self-harm or scatological content. The brief and everyone’s boundaries must be clear before the session.
Me and my husband make content for onlyfans, is this something you can help with?
Short answer yes. I offer services to those who create online content. This can be anything from a photoshoot, filming and in some cases video editing and online presence management.
Is the naturist massage sexual?
No. Naturist massage is non-sexual. Both practitioner and client may be unclothed, but nudity does not imply consent to sexual contact. Boundaries are discussed beforehand, and you can request an adjustment, pause or stop at any time.
Why are your services currently free?
Services are currently offered free while we build experience and develop the portfolio. Photography shoots use a TFP arrangement: neither party pays a session fee, and image use is agreed in writing. Please confirm the terms for your chosen service before booking; no permission to publish images is assumed.
